| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com The aim was to do for country what Saturday Night Fever did for disco. The result was that bars from Kona to Kalamazoo suddenly had mechanical bulls, and slickers walking around in cowboy hats. You might also pinpoint this as the moment in time when "country" music suddenly went cosmopolitan, paving the way for Garth Brooks. Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love" was one of the decade's biggest singles, and this album briefly made a star of Mickey Gilley (whose Texas club provided a home for that alpha bull). Fans of Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, the Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, and Bonnie Raitt may want this collection for the tunes they lack elsewhere. And it sure recalls an era. But please don't call it "country." --Bill Holdship

Excellent! August 17, 2008 Urban Cowboy: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Love this soundtrack! Can't believe it took me this long to replace the cassette with a CD.
Exceptional CD June 14, 2008 The movie was one of John Travolta's best and it is great to hear all of those songs on one CD. It's a shame that Gilley's is no more.
forgotten classic April 13, 2008 Like other memorable soundtracks...this one is a keeper. Great gift & it arrived quickly!
This is REAL American music!!! September 27, 2007 The songs on theis CD are REAL American music..... What a terrific collection of fantastic country tunes that show how really strong this type of culture is and how it is good for our country.
People who listen to rap all the time should have their heads examined. It makes them nothing but ignorant and mean. RAP is A-W-F-U-L!!!
Country and Western music LIVES ON!!!!!
