Album Description He could be basking in his songwriting accolades, but Jamey Johnson remains a restlessly creative maverick. Jamey is the co-writer of the CMA and ACM 2007 Song of the Year "Give It Away," recorded by George Strait. Trace Adkins, George Jones and Joe Nichols have also recorded his songs. But instead of sitting at home counting his royalty checks, Jamey Johnson recorded more than 40 songs during the past year. Not content with providing hits for others, the singer-songwriter has a powerful drive to sing, record and perform. "Writing is not enough for me," says this intense artist. "I did not come here to just be a writer. I live to play....I'm not here to take a stab at it. I am going to DO it." Following a deep period of isolation and introspection, Jamey Johnson entered the recording studio in April 2007. Within months, Jamey emerged with That Lonesome Song, a collection of extraordinary compositions that is equally noteworthy for its lyrical craftsmanship and its strikingly original sound. The first single from the album is "In Color" and is available in the Amazon MP3 store.

That Lonesome Song November 28, 2008 I heard Jamey Johnson sing several of the songs on this CD while appearing on the Don Imus Show on RFD TV. I play it all the time while in my car and may order another for my truck. I am looking forward to the next Jamey Johnson release.
That Lonesome Song November 26, 2008 I love sad country songs, especially if they tell a good story without being too sweet. Jamey Johnson tells good stories that make the listener feel they understand and can relate to the ordinary people he sings about. In Color is a poignant song, and That Lonesome Song makes you feel lonely right along with him. There are many really good country songs on this cd that haven't been overproduced and given a pop/rock sound the way so many country songs sound today. These songs are very real.
A Breath Of Fresh Air November 19, 2008 What a great album you will not be disappointed in any form Would recommed it to anyone A wonderful new talent a breath of fresh air to country music
If you want real country-this is it! November 16, 2008 If you've ever been to Nashville & listened to real local bands on Broadway; this is just like it. Not for sissified Chesney fans! Jamey sounds like Haggard.....
SImply the Best October 17, 2008 This is the best country CD I've heard in long time. Not a bad song in the lot. Play and replay. And the transitions from song to song are a nice touch. Marvelous CD!
