3 out of 5 stars Definite Disappointment   October 13, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

THE HITS by Faith Hill was a greatly anticipated release. She has developed into a mulifaceted performer starting her career with pure country where she garned a huge fan base. Her eventual crossover to pop country was seamless and she seemed to keep her fan base and added a multitude of more people as well. Some think that CRY was too far removed from her country roots but country fans are faithful and stayed by Faith's side with loyalty.

Then we get this hits collection. A mere one disc that runs only 58 minutes. On this set we also have two new songs and an emphasis on the pop portion of her career. There are only a few songs from her early pure country music thrown in. Also, may of the songs are subpar album cuts and not the best of her work. What does this say to fans? If one did not know who Faith Hill was and was introduced to her by this cd they would have no idea she started as a pure country singer. This cd is in no way a true reflection of the important periods of her career and obviously contains the songs Faith wanted on it.

Add to this the mistake with the song listing order and almost no liner notes. Even if these songs were all here there is 22 minutes of free space on the disc where she could have added the material fans would have wanted. I give this cd 3 stars for her performance on these songs is stellar but I am deeply saddened. A hits collection should always be done for the fans and this cd in no way says "Fans, thanks for your support. Here is a collection of my music you have loved and supported." A waste. Country fans are loyal, but only to a point.

3 out of 5 stars problem   August 26, 2008
some of the songs are not in the order listed??? Other than that it's a good cd but can't figure out what happened.

1 out of 5 stars extremely dissapointed seriously   July 29, 2008
ok, ok.. let me start off by saying i have been a huge faith fan since the very beginning. But 13 years into your career and finally putting out a greatest hits album - as a fan i was expecting SO MUCH more to this. there are in fact 15 songs here but some of the BEST singles missing here:
1.someone else's dream
2.there will come a day
3.just to hear you say that you love me
4.but i will
5.let's go to vegas
6.if my heart had wings
7.stealing kisses
8.love ain't like that
9.when the lights go down
10.i can't do that anymore
11.sunshine and summertime
12.you can't lose me
and
13.the lucky one
you would think that a few of these 13 singles could have been added not to mention 2 other ones she sang (that were stand out songs) -
1.the star spangled banner (her performance was spectacular)
2."where are you christmas" the song she sang for The Grinch soundtrack.

this was a very sad release of a greatest hits album. i find there was really no need for a LIVE version of "Stronger" or "I Need You" which was on McGraw's album.

i'm pretty sad i bought the album because MANY of my favorite Faith songs were not included on it.
sorry faith, but i was extremely dissapointed with the whole set.

5 out of 5 stars Faith Hill cd good   June 23, 2008
I enjoy listening to this Faith Hill CD. I purchased with pepsi points and it arrived within days.

2 out of 5 stars Agree with other reviews, a dissapointment...   June 4, 2008
I think most of this has been covered but....

1: Many missing hits....(and live versions, UGH)
2:Track listing messed up (out of order which gets confusing if you want to go to a particular track and get wrong song)
3: I HATE carboard packaging, it's flimsy ect and you don't want to take it in the car or whatever cause it will get messed up. I don't understand the aversion to jewel case at all as the vast majority of jewel cases will get recycled anyway after people get rid of thier collections or trade them in.

Overall this release sucks..could have been sooo much better on so many fronts.
