Jimmy Buffett may have made his millions, but that doesn't mean that he has eased up on his workload. After releasing 33 albums, mounting grueling annual tours, and fashioning an entire industry and lifestyle out of his signature song "Margaritaville," Buffett trots out this two-CD collection. Yet, Meet Me in Magaritaville, which spans 30 years, isn't merely a retread of his long, storied career. Buffett has written two new songs for the package and re-recorded six alternative versions of fan favorites (including a moving version of "The Captain and the Kid," which he included for his ailing father, who died shortly after the album's release). He's also added two new cover songs--a spicy bossa nova version of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking" and the Beach Boys' "Sail on Sailor"--as well four live tracks, which shows the singer at his best, conjuring up his own Yuppie Atlantis, an idyllic place where no one has to wear shoes, the sun is always shining, the bar never closes, and Junior Mints are always available at every cinema. Best collection of Buffet tunes. I know the next song before it starts, great to have on drives. This CD must be on very boat, it should come with any new or used boat purchase!

LOVE JIMMY BUFFETT MUSIC AND THIS WAS A 2 DISC SET. THE #1 DISC HAS LOTS OF HIS BIG HITS AND I LOVE LISTENING TO IT. THE #2 DISC HAD MOSTLY SONGS THAT I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH, SO I'M NOT ENJOYING IT AS MUCH. BUT I WILL EVENTUALLY LEARN TO SING ALONG WITH THOSE SONGS TOO.

This "ultimate collection" of Jimmy Buffet's is the best! What a wonderful set of beach music tunes perfect for getting you in the mood of relaxing during your next beach or cruise vacation. I first found out about Jimmy Buffet back in 1987 from a group of Florida State University (Go Gators!) social work students that had been attending a social work conference in New Orleans at the time. "Would you like to go to his concert tomorrow?" they queried. Not knowing anything about him I said "Of course" then was swept up into this most happy, invigorating, lively music which actually encouraged my participation with the use of hands during the "Fins" song. I have never been the same since. I have now visited Margaritaville restaurants in New Orleans, Key West, the Caymans and in Panama City, Florida. Even more so I brought this tape along the last time my husband and I went on a Carnival cruise and played it on our balcony while dancing and singing to "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Last Mango in Paris", "Why Don't We Get Drunk" and "Brown Eyed Girl". Let's not forget the "Desperation Samba" and "Creola" on the tape along with a host of others. Folks, this is a GREAT tape! My neighbors in the next balcony overheard me playing it on my portable DVD player and proceeded dancing to Jimmy Buffet's music on their balcony (the next over) as well. They later told us it was one of the most memorable moments of the cruise! So, want to start a party? Play this tape! It will make you smile!!!
