Solid Rock Worship Album December 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Kutless is a band I've enjoyed since their self-titled debut album in 2002, in particular the songs Run and Your Touch which are biblical and having seen the band live, are full of emotional energy. Arguably, I felt they've improved with each of their following albums Sea Of Faces, Strong Tower and Hearts of The Innocent, which I rated a top 10 album of 2006.
To Know That You're Alive is yet another solid rock worship album but not quite another improvement over previous work in my opinion. The opening track The Feeling is a nice rock anthem with biblical lyrics, as are the other stand-out tracks Complete and the title track, which is the closest to my favorite Kutless song Not What You See. My ultimate review is that those 3 songs were quickly added to my Kutless playlist, along with I Do Not Belong and You, which are both solid power ballads, but unlike the last 2 albums, there weren't more songs that really stood out to me. If you liked their previous work, you should like this album which for me is 75% out of 100%, 3 1/2 stars.
Best All-Around Christian Rock Album October 24, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw the cover of this album and liked the artwork and then sampled a few tracks. I loved a number of them and thought I'd buy the album. I can truly say I got more than I bargained for with this purchase. I really love the orchestral ballads (Dying To Become), the smooth songs and the harder hitting songs. This is my first Kutless album but I will definitely get their next one. I wanted a hardcore album but I found that I appreciated the great balance of alternative and hard rock themes and lyrics used in this album. Truly an excellent album.

I have never purchased a Kutless album before. I am sure glad I got this one. Definitely praise worthy, God all the way. This will definitely be one of my top favorite music. If you need awesome christian music, this is for you:) No regrets buying this.
BEASTLY September 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
most of the songs on this album were really good. now I'm one of those hardcore rock metal people, so i didn't like everything but Kutless is definitely taking this is the right direction! i love how developed the sound is.
I rate it five stars for three songs! September 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you've listened to previous Kutless albums, and then listened to this one, you'll quickly find out that their sound is different. It's still rock and roll Christian, but it has a more heavy metal sound which I'm debating whether or not I'm keen to it or not. Dying to Become, You, and I don't belong are probably the crown jewels in this album to me. Everything else is...well, not so. I like contemporary Christian music, but this pushes even my rigid standards to the edge. I'm not a huge fan of Kutless at all, but this album is decent enough to at least be jamming to on a road trip or my casual drive to class. If you like Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith's music better than Skillet, Comatose and Red and Thousand Foot Crutch, avoid this album. I think this album marks the first and last album of Kutless I'll ever buy, at least right now. I do hear their devout message in each song, but if you want something that could be played in a church, this isn't it. I do respect them for putting God first in their music, I just don't know if heavy metal is the style to reach the world with the gospel. Cheers to the three songs I mentioned that are a nice quieter interlude to the otherwise hard rockin cafe type Christian music.
