Amazon.com essential recording When you hear this creative collection of alliterative alphabet anthems, you'll be amazed at the various verses and clever choruses. Whether it's the classic "'C' Is for Cookie" or "MMM Monster Meal," young kids will get a kick out of the frivolous fun while learning language set to song. Along with the lyrical letter tunes, there's a "What's My Letter?" skit with Prairie Dawn and Guy Smiley and a fantastic fable, "The Tale of Tom Tattertall Tuttletut," featuring Herbert Birdsfoot and the Anything People. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more alluring alphabet album anywhere. --Deborah Moore

Part of my family for two generations now! October 24, 2008 I am now 32, and I listened to this as a kid (repeatedly). We lived in a pretty isolated area and had no TV, etc. This (record back then) was my best friend. I still know every word by heart, and in retrospect, I believe it helped me to do really well with reading and writing throughout my school years. (They have added a new cover and a song sung by Elmo at the beginning). I think it helps kids learn to really like/develop a relationship with letters. Maybe that is going too far, but it is fun anyway and helps them learn all the sounds the letters make (phonics), which is all-important for learning to read. Also, it fosters the imagination because it is all audio. Kids have to imagine what the characters look like. I purchased two of these for my 4-year-old because I noticed the manufacturer stopped making them. Of course, with cable TV, video games, CDs, DVDs, etc., he is not quite as impressed as I was, but I still enjoy listening to it with him when I can, and he does like the CD. :-) He also started understanding letter sounds after listening to it a few times.
A few good songs, but not enough July 28, 2008 The platinum CD is a much better purchase. There are only a few good songs on this CD, and not some of the better ones that are alaphet related on Sesame Steet.
All Time Classic! June 29, 2008 I grew up with these songs and am delighted to now be able to share them now with my two year old little boy! The CD covers the entire alphabet with easy to remember and upbeat songs about each letter. We have also given this CD as a birthday present for his two little girl cousins and it was loved by them as well. If your child loves Sesame Street this CD is a must! It's one of my son's CD's that I don't mind listening to over and over. I would highly recommend it!
Sesame Street April 8, 2008 Almost all Sesame Street products are of outstanding quality. This one is no different. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that I was looking for old school Sesame Street. Now that may sound funny but my kids grew up with Big Bird singing ABC-DEF-GHI. And now I am a grandmother and how I wanted my granddaughter to grow up listening to the same thing. But with the Elmo hype, this CD has Elmo singing that song. I do wish they had it the other way but other than that, this is an absolutely WONDERFUL way to learn and laugh through the alphabet with your child or grandchild.
Great CD for children February 22, 2008 My children love this CD. They are 3-1/2 and 1-1/2 years old. I bought this CD because I loved the album when I was a child. We listen to this CD every day and the boys have taken to day care where the other children beg to have it played. The only down fall to this CD is that the songs stick in my head which can get annoying at times. Well worth that minor problem to see the joy on my children's faces when they are dancing and having fun to the music.
