Promises and Delivers August 1, 2005
The title of this CD makes two implicit promises. I promises love songs and it promises that they will be treasured. So they are on both counts.
By and large, these are not Englebert's more famous numbers, although they are definitely associated with him. They are, however, superb. His voice has both the tone and the range to do an admirable job of singing them. He also has the skill to deliver them with the right emphasis and evoke the desired images of love, longing and, occasionally, loss.
This is an outstanding collection and a must for lovers of the genre or the artist.
