A friend in a million pieces. October 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Never heard much of Patsy Cline's music until about a week ago or so. Jamie introduced me to some of the songs that she performs at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Florida. I do have to say my favorite is I fall To Pieces. This could reflect back when I had a friend and I loved him. Things didnt work out for a friendship/love relationship but gosh. Too bad it didnt. Deep down it still feels the same. I could still fall to pieces.
fine collection of hits by Patsy Cline June 8, 2008 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Patsy Cline Gold is a terrific two CD set collection of some of Patsy Cline's greatest hits and ballads. The sound quality is very good and the artwork is very nicely done as well. This is a keeper for Patsy Cline fans; and people who want a thorough introduction to Patsy Cline's artistry will be pleased with this as well.
"Walkin' After Midnight" starts the first CD with a wonderful number by Patsy; she aces this easily and I love how she delivers this ballad with all her heart and soul! Patsy Cline's uncanny sense of timing and her excellent diction enable her to sing this song--and many others--so very well. "A Poor Man's Roses (Or A Rich Man's Gold)" has a very pretty melody; and I really like "A Poor Man's Roses (Or A Rich Man's Gold)." "True Love" features Patsy taking a classic love song and giving it a fine country twist to make it all her own! "Crazy" is probably one of Patsy Cline's better known hits; and I could never tire of hearing her sing "Crazy" in her beautiful style.
"Have You Ever Been Lonely (Have You Ever Been Blue)" features Patsy front and center--right where she belongs! The melody is great and the music fits in perfectly with Patsy's singing of these lyrics. I also like "South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way);" "South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)" gets the royal treatment from Patsy Cline who delivers this effortlessly--she was THAT talented! In addition, "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home" shines bright as Patsy gives this a sensitive treatment at a slower tempo than I'm used to--but it all holds its own very well. "Heartaches" is yet another tune that Patsy takes and makes into a country classic thereby putting her own stamp on it; and this sounds very good.
The second CD continues the hits. "Anytime" has Patsy singing at her very best; and the harmonica adds a lot to the arrangement! "Half As Much" is a tender ballad that I enjoy hearing when Patsy Cline sings it; and listen for "When I Get Through With You (You'll Love Me Too);" this is some great ballad and Patsy really shows her might on this tune! "Back In Baby's Arms" is about a love that goes over a few bumps but lasts despite the rough times; and there's also "Someday (You'll Want Me To Want You)." Patsy performs this ballad with panache and this really impresses me; she must be born to sing songs like these! "Always" is another fine song that Patsy Cline delivers with lots of style and grace.
"Crazy Arms" is a number that stuns me with its beauty; and Patsy never sings a superfluous note! The two CD set ends well with "Sweet Dreams (Of You);" this is a fantastic final ballad and it leaves me wanting more!
Patsy Cline was clearly one of the greatest female country singers were ever saw; and I doubt there'll be another quite like her for some while to come. Patsy's fans will love this and it makes the perfect introduction to Patsy Cline and her artistry.
Patsy Cline's Gold February 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This two set CD is an amazing set of the work of Patsy Cline. While I listen I wonder how many more memorable songs she might have created had her life not ended so soon. My favorite is her rendition of "Always".
Great Music, Bad Distribution, Amazon! October 22, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Songs were improperly tagged. When I downloaded to my Zune, it showed the tracks on this album as 7 different albums! Same thing when I downloaded Loretta Lynn - Gold today. Please fix this.
Best female singer of country songs January 12, 2007 Patsy Cline was the best singer of country songs. In her songs she has very clear and exellent voice. It sounds like it is very easy for her to sing. The words of her songs are touching.
