Amazon.com Talk about your gifts of Christmas past, The Christmas Collection is a must-have for any Sinatra-phile, right down to its family photos and one priceless shot of Sinatra swinging a golf club next to the tree wearing a Santa suit! Complete with four previously unreleased tracks (some from live TV specials) -- including two with Bing Crosby ("The Christmas Song" and "White Christmas"), the 18-song collection surveys Sinatra's holiday output and its effects are often chilling. Listening to him glide soulfully through Jimmy Webb's melancholy but romantic "What Ever Happened to Christmas?" or hearing him do his immaculate phrasing on "Silent Night" when he was visibly frail and aging in 1991 are close encounters of a Sinatra kind that are rarely captured on one album. There's also a delightful "The Twelve Days of Christmas" sung with his kids Nancy and Frank, Jr., from their 1969 record The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas and insightful and intimate liner notes by James Ritz, not to mention those magical orchestral arrangements. Here's a five-star package to remind us that it's still Frank's world--we just rent a stable in it. Highly recommended. --Martin Keller
Album Description It's starting to sound a lot like an Ol' Blue Eyes Christmas with this hearth and heart-warming TV-marketed collection of Yuletide favorites. On traditional carols and holiday favorites from the American popular soundtrack, no one can deliver a vocal like Sinantra!

So Sorry September 18, 2008 I enjoy Frank, I enjoy crooners. This cd has a number of very good songs on it, however, it has some that are not as enjoyable. It is nice to hear Mr. Sinatra and the family sing some songs together, however, they aren't really great to listen to more than once. I'm terribly sorry I didn't like it. Again there are a lot of good tunes on this cd, just be preparred for a few you won't always want to listen to.
Sinatra at Christmas January 14, 2008 GREAT Christmas music. Very upbeat and great to play at your Christmas parties. Or simply listen to it while haning out w/ the family around the Christmas tree. There is nothing like a little Sinatra at Christmas.
More Sinatra classics December 29, 2007 I have never found Sinatra's version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" on any other CD. Since 2005 that song has been played at a banquet that is held at the kickoff of the Christmas season with I club to which I belong. Some of the songs include Sinatra and his kids singing together. "A Holly Jolly Christmas from Frank Sinatra" includes most of the other songs you would want as well. This album includes most of the songs forgotten on the other albums.
EXCELLENT!! ALSO CHECK OUT *A JOLLY CHRISTMAS*!! December 11, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Frank Sinatra is my favorite singer of all-time and I have everything he ever recorded, so I am probably biased, but REALLY, I am PICKY about Christmas albums! They have to be good for me to enjoy them, and this one is great!! I am chiefly a fan of Frank's 1950's output, and this features mostly his later recordings, so that should be a strike against it there; however, this is a very tasteful collection that hits the emotional strings beautifully. BUT, DO NOT OVERLOOK Frank's 1957 CLASSIC Christmas album, *A Jolly Christmas* - It is as great as this album - not as diverse, but Frank is in better voice throughout. Check it out. It has the sexiest version of Jingle Bells ever! Also highly recommended: *Christmas Songs By Sinatra* from the 1940's (charming!). (All 3 of his Christmas albums are excellent, for different reasons.) Thanks for reading!
Always the best January 20, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
