Superb! December 16, 2008 Bernstein's piano is amazing. This is the most interesting and engaging interpretation of Gershwin's classic I've ever listened to.
cd- Rhapsoy In Blue Gershwin October 10, 2008 I loved these songs since I first heard them. Especially the RAPSODY IN BLUE which I probably heard it first in the movie, An American In Paris. This cd rendition is perfect. I have it loaded on my pod as well as having the cd in my office to listen to (among others) as I do my work in here. I strongly recommend this cd to everyone. Gershwin; Rhapsody in Blue/American in Paris August 31, 2008 This CD was everthing I expeced. It contained the entire (16.26 minute) version of Rhapsody in Blue and brings back some wonderful memories from my high school days and music appreciation classes.
My Favorite Recording of a Favorite Piece August 31, 2008 Here in Los Angeles I hear Gershwin played on KUSC, the classical station owned by USC, fairly often as part of their mix; it can be a real pleasure when you're stuck in traffic. However, their recordings are generally the James Levine ones, which I feel are rushed and scattered. Bernstein was born to execute this music. He inflames it with such character, tone and swing that I can't help but see dancing in my head when I hear it. I also think the Great Recording series is an excellently-priced way to go for some of the greats, but this particular selection happens to be a personal favorite.
Gershwin Done Right! August 21, 2008 I love all of the CDs I own that feature Leonard Bernstein as pianist and conductor. Under Mr. Bernstein's baton, the New York Philharmonic delivers a plush version of Mr. Gershwin's two works. I highly recommend this CD to those who love George Gershwin's music.
