Great Gift December 16, 2005 This was bought for my daughter for her 1st birthday. We played it so much I found myself singing the songs to myself. What I really liked is that there are 3 Cds so I didn't have to play just one over and over. If it became too much for me I could switch the CD. My daughter is almost 3 now and asks for me to put this CD on. We liked it so much I bought it for friends son.
I like childhood voices June 16, 2004 I really enjoy the CDs in the box set. They sound young as 3 years old. Alot better sounding, too.
They changed the tunes. February 4, 2003 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this for my little girl for her second birthday based on the review above, and I am sorry that I did.She had a couple of music CDs that were awful, and I thought if I got her this 5 star disc, that she would at least get the tunes right. To my horror, this three disc set has the same anonymous performers that our other single disc did. Over half of the songs change the tune and/or rhythm dramatically. I cannot use musical notation here, but for example, in "Hickory Dickory Dock", they sing "Dock" as the high note!!! This is not a matter of children not being able to hit the notes, either. The kids can sing well enough (although they have little annoying sound bites between some numbers that are supposed to be cute, but are merely annoying). The keyboardist is the one doing violence to the tunes, apparently thinking he can improve on standards. Is it too much to ask that the original tunes on classic children's songs be respected, so that they learn it the way all preceding generations did? I guess I have learned my lesson, no more anonymous compilations, they are not worth it.
100 All Time Children's Favorites November 13, 2002 This album collection of children's songs is great for the whole family. This album was given to my son as a newborn. I would play it for him everyday, I ended up learning all the songs. this I will be the second time he has this cd, the first one I took all over the place that it endup lost. And I had to get another one. The great thing about it is that all the songs are sung by children.
