Super April 5, 2008 I love Marty Robbins...wish I had a video of all his music. He was an outstanding performer and wish I been able to see and hear his music live.
The Absolute Best of Marty Robbins October 20, 2007 This CD contains the best recordings that span the 30 years he was actively recording hits. Not only do you get the sound and feel of his early country songs but you can hear how the recording technology and overall instrumental backings changed in the succeeding years making his delivery sound stronger and more polished, leading to his cross over popularity. He has a great voice for the type music he sang. I think his delivery of That's All Right recorded in 1954 is as good as if not better than Elvis's. My favorites though are A White Sport Coat ( I have listened to this song for 50 yrs now and have never tired of hearing it) and Don't Worry (that loose guitar string effect is still great to listen to) which I still can't listen to without singing along.
If you like good vocal style with good lyrics and instrumentation, you'll enjoy this CD very much. If you're an oldies collector, you should include this CD in your collection.
Great place to start and then some June 9, 2007 I've had this CD for quite a while and moved on to the individual albums so thought it would be interesting to look at it again now that I've gotten further into Marty's fabulous array of records. This collection still holds up really well and is totally worth every dime. There are defintely holes in it but the good news is it's a case of getting a lot of satisfaction finding out what else he did. I can't think of a "country" singer with a more soulful voice let alone his other talents. Marty was the man. After getting this collection I'd go right into "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" to start to delve further.
Marty Robbins life time of songs January 6, 2007 Great CD, all the favorites on one CD. There doesn't seem to be any more of the good old recording artist out there any more, only hip -hop country. I have always liked Marty Robbins, Chet Atkins and the likes of these type of singers.
Good place to start November 30, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
