Editorial Reviews:

Including Sinatra's finest recordings from the most consistently accomplished era of his career, The Capitol Years includes three discs and 75 songs worth of swinging standards and bittersweet saloon pop, the music Sinatra made after his career and personal life had crashed and singing was all he had left. His masterful baritone and remarkable phrasing here work in perfect combination with arrangements that swing and swell to the heartbeat of loves lost and found. It is these performances for which Sinatra will be forever remembered, for surely, no one has ever created music more beautiful than this. --David Cantwell

5 out of 5 stars Great Price and Great Song Selection   December 28, 2008
Three disc set for thirty dollars sounded good to me being that it is Frank Sinatra. I am not a fan of Frank Sinatra and I could never really get into his music or the style buy my wife on the other hand loves him so I decided to get her this version as a Christmas present. When she looked at the song selection she was very happy with what she saw and said there are plenty of his best and greatest songs for her liking. As far as I am concerned that is worth my five stars just to have her enjoy it that much. I listen to it with her and I find the quality of the discs sound wise to be fantastic and his voice really coming through. I don't have anything to compare it to but my wife says the quality of the discs and the song selection is top notch. The reason I went with this version in the 1st place was b/c of all the good reviews it had received and took a chance on it. Like I said I am not really a old fan but I listen with my wife and now I find myself tapping my foot or hand when I hear it. As I listen to his songs I kind of begin to understand why he is such an icon to people and why he is so loved. My wife by the way is one of those people as well and seeing her sing along and dance with my kids helps me understand why.

4 out of 5 stars Classic Sinatra at a Great Price!   August 17, 2008
The reason I gave this 3 CD Set 4 stars instead of 5? These recordings
were made before 'Stereo' came along. But, the engineers did a great job
of transfering (Re-mastering?) the songs to CD, and they sound very good.
Seventy-five classics by the greatest crooner of the 20th century.
Interested in 'Sinatra in Stereo'? You might also buy "The Reprise
Collection"-- it's ALL in stereo. Buy both-- you'll be glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars Frank Sinatra   March 29, 2008
The Capital Years CD from Frank Sinatra is one of the best CD's that I've known.

4 out of 5 stars A Little Fact . . .   March 7, 2008

"Here Goes," featured on Disc 2, Track 23 of this set, is a vocal version of a piece called "Hi" which was written by Otto Cesana and recorded by Mr. Cesana's orchestra on his 1958 Capitol album "Brief Interlude." Frank's Essex Productions concern was mentioned at the bottom of the label, which may explain his own vocal treatment (with lyrics by Sammy Cahn, not even crediting Mr. Cesana's music, from what I've seen). Cesana's "Hi" is perhaps better known to New Yorkers as the theme music for New York station WOR-TV's midday movie series "Movie 9" from the mid-1970's to the early 1980's. Yet so far that hasn't been reissued on CD, that I know of.

5 out of 5 stars I never stop listening to it!   January 19, 2008

This is my first Sinatra album and I bought it because of the reviews on Amazon, and I must say they were right on! It has expanded my love for Mr. Sinatra's music and I will enjoy these CD's for years to come. My next purchase will have to be the white caddie convertible and a home in Palm Springs.
