Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Hard rock producer Paul O'Neill, renowned for his work with Aerosmith and Savatage, teamed with the latter band's Jon Oliva to create Trans-Siberian Orchestra, an inspired fusion of classical music and rock-opera pageantry. Their first two releases are visionary and timeless Christmas-themed concept albums, spotlighting lead guitars and classical string sections alike, and they became instant contemporary holiday classics. 2004's The Lost Christmas Eve, which completes their symphonic rock Yuletide triology, underscores Billboard's recent comment that TSO "seems to be turning into a Christmas tradition."

5 out of 5 stars Always good...   November 26, 2008
My husband and I are huge fans of TSO. We go to their concert every year here in Atlanta. When you're in a concert setting, sometimes you can't quite hear all the words. (Granted: all the lighting and fireworks and snow are a little distracting! LOL!) However, when you listen to the CD, and can hear the words, the songs are even more powerful.

Our favorite singer is Tommy who does "The Ornament". He's been the singer on our tour every year except for this one and I am always moved by him.

TSO has resurfaced in the past few years as "the" group to listen to. (I remember when - for Christmas - it was Mannheim Steamroller.) Whether in person at a concert or in the privacy of your car or home, the music is always good.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to our Christmas collection of sight and sound.   November 19, 2008
What a wonderful product. The music is wonderful, the DVD delightful and the packaging is so nice I keep it out as part of our Christmas decor.

5 out of 5 stars Christmas Classics All Year Long   September 4, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Last year a friend of mine introduced to me this Christmas Trilogy by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, an orchestra I've never heard about. I love Christmas but usually I'm very tired of Christmas music, especially because there're so many poor covers of Christmas classics. I get tired already in early November, so you can just imagine, how tired I am in Christmas Eve.

Before me and my friend sat down and listened to this compilation album, I, of course, really didn't expect anything at all and was fully prepared to prejudice it to pieces. But it turned out all my preparations were in vain. It didn't take long for me to realise: this is how Christmas classics should sound like: like classic rock ... and yet there was so much else to it than just that. It was classic hard rock combined with a twist of pop, techno, jazz etc. performed by a host of more or less known (but fully talented) musicians, orchestras and sometimes a children choir. Also included are many timeless classics by f.x. Bach ("Jesus Joy of Man's Desiring"), Mozart ("The Magic Whistle"), Pachelbel (two very different but equally great versions of "Canon") and many others. All in all it is an exceptionally good blend of songs from different eras with different instruments and performers, but at the core lies quality music by some classic hard rockers from Savatage that brings new power to classics as well as christmas classic making it one the best christmas-based albums of all time.

What you get is 3CDs + 1DVD with a consert. The music is based upon three christmas stories. You can read about them in the leaflets where especially the last one is touching, reminding the listener of all the good things Christmas is all about. But all good things shouldn't only be reserved for Christmas, it should be reserved for the whole year. That's why I even listen to this trilogy (which I've bought after I visited my friend) at summer time in the Faroes where I come from and where there's daylight virtually all 24 hours a day. It might sound stupid listening to Christmas music in the summer with neverending daylight but in this cause it's really worth it.

Enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars A Great listen any time not just the holidays   April 25, 2008
I love TSO! The disk set is great and the added DVD is like being at the concert.

5 out of 5 stars The Christmas Trilogy   March 20, 2008
I bought the trilogy because I kept misplacing my seperate CD's. Not only do I enjoy Trans Siberian Orchestra, but so do my children ages 15 and 11. This is a wonderful collection to own.
