Movie Soundtrack July 13, 2010 A. K. Hunter (Indianapolis, IN) I was enchanted with the Avatar music when I watched the movie the first time. James Horner's music is wonderful and I've collected many of the soundtracks he's composed.
Did Not Want to Purchase The Entire CD June 22, 2010 Frances Davis I thought was the original intent was the freedom to purchase only the music that I wanted...I will just have to wait until I can.
Great Soundtrack May 23, 2010 Vauktu 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this the instant after watching the movie. Absolutely love it - very powerful and emotional soundtrack.
A beautiful film score May 4, 2010 E. Anderson I must admit I am not wild about James Horner's music. His work is often a hit and miss with me. I recently bought the soundtrack to the wildly popular James Cameron film Avatar. I really liked the elements of tribal music fused together with the more traditional orchestral sounds found in most film scores. I normally do not care for pop music nowadays but I actually liked the Leona Lewis track "I See You", it is a beautiful ballad. My only gripe with the score is the "War" track which was a little too long for my liking but overall I enjoy listening to the soundtrack. I find the music very relaxing to listen to after a long day at the office.
Brainstorm Soundtrack - Lillian's Heart Attack April 26, 2010 S. Lee (USA) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
It was driving me crazy, I knew I had heard it before....I just knew it. As many reviews here have stated James Horner recycles his music from other movie soundtracks. As I was watching the movie and the mother tree had just fallen part of the dreadfull mood of the music was so familiar but I just couldn't place it. Then it hit me. One of my favorite Christopher Walken movies of all time is Brainstorm, and it just happened to also be scored by James Horner. At least part of the music from that scene is from "Lillian's Heart Attack" from the Brainstorm movie soundtrack. After doing a little trolling in regards to Mr. Horner I have learned that this is also known as his "4 note danger motif" and has been used many many times on almost all of his movie soundtracks. I'm not saying it it's bad for this movie...it works for the mood. However I know I will always be listening for the Infamous "de de de daaa" from now on whenever he scores a film.
