| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Ten Shekel Shirt is a band with a message. Through two album releases, a # 1 hit at CHR radio, and 150,000 album sales, lead singer/songwriter Lamont Hiebert has watched as his songs of revolution and rejuvenation have impacted listeners across the globe. But sometimes actions speak louder than words, and after hearing reports about child slavery and exploitation, Lamont had a life altering experience when he traveled to Southeast Asia and witnessed the sale of children first-hand. Not content to simply write songs about the issue, Lamont co-founded the organization Love146 to help end child slavery and exploitation. Love 146 quickly gained national recognition for their work, earning the MySpace Impact Award for Social Justice, and they were named an "Agent of Change" by GQ magazine. Lamont's experiences as a modern day abolitionist are at the heart of many of the songs on Ten Shekel Shirt's new album Jubilee, easily the strongest album in the band's career. Though the album's songs deal with weighty subject matter, Lamont and Ten Shekel Shirt bring a strong message of hope throughout.

Christian Love In Action September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For too long the Church of Jesus Christ has stepped away from politics, away from social issues, away from the world. But Christ called us to be in this world but not of it. He called us to be His ambassadors for the Kingdom. I'm am so glad groups like Ten Shekel Shirt (as well as Jars of Clay and Caedmon's Call) are out their using their music and their influence to bring about change. It has taken groups like U2 and Coldplay to open our eyes to the issues of the world. Ten Shekel Shirt takes the issues of slavery, bondage, human trafficking, and debt and fought against them. Their fight comes forth in their lyrics. This is a bold and solid CD. It deserves as much airplay and recognition as Coldplay's Viva La Vida.
Passion August 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Lamont has produced an authentic life anthology expressed with creative intelligence and passion. The album is more than a collection of great songs. It is a concert that weaves the strands of life into a cohesive whole. Moving from the innocent victim, to self-inflicted pain, to restorative faith, to justice, to sensual love, to the exhortation that "we've got to come through" this album transcends musical categorization and expresses life lived on the front line. The musicianship, arrangements and recording quality reflect the passion of the songs and the life that they emanate from.
