 Hey if you think Solange is anything like B....not so fast! November 22, 2008
Solange is so much better than her sister's music. Solange takes a refreshing approach to what's old is new again. She definitely has her own style that is clearly echoed throughout the CD. There is a lot to be said for an artist who is able to string together 13 fabulous songs and not have you feel one time you want to skip the next track. This CD is about real music with heartfelt lyrics as we take this journey with Solange to achieving her dreams.
Solange has taken a huge risk by deviating from the family formula of musical creativity. I think this risk has proven to be solid choice. This talent is showcasing that unusual is good (being wildly creative) and this is something the music industry desperately needs.
Solange is on her way to having musical staying power and the ability to accumulate a mass of her own loyal fan base.
Good Music is Good music November 22, 2008
I have to admit, when I heard Solange was putting an album out, I was less than impressed. I was introduced to the album by the first single, "I Decided" and to be honest I didn't really like it. I had to listen carefully, it was different. Than I heard it over again and then over again. I still didn't buy the cd. Then Sandcastle Disco came out. I liked the song, but I still didn't buy the cd. And the more I heard the two singles, I loved them. But I still didn't buy the cd. WHY? Because she was Solange and I wasn't going to buy it. Then I would hear the song on the radio and I would turn it up and really enjoy the song. I would think, why don't I just buy this cd. Well finally I did. On the same day that I bought Beyonce's new cd. I am a huge Beyonce fan and I really wanted the cd. Well I was disappointed. Mediocre for Beyonce. Ok, now Solange. Wow! I was thoroughly shocked. The music was good. This was not the radio friendly pop foolishness that I had been hearing over the last year. This was legitimate, good, quality music! And guess what Solange is singing it. Whatever you think about her and her family, forget it. Listen to the music. She will suprise you. She suprised the hell out of me. I am officially a fan of Solange.

Before owning this album, I hadn't heard much from Solange but after hearing her catchy hit single "I've Decided", she left me wanting more. I brought the CD and at first I thought the music was too weird. Well, it's been about 2 or 3 months and I have yet to keep this disc out of my car CD player for more than an hour! She's a crazy lyricist (not sure if I spelled that right)! Once, you understand the words, you would agree that she's totally different from her sister. The songs make you fall in love with her as an artist. When you listen to the words and indulge in what she's saying, you will begin to love the CD more and more. I can listen to the CD all the way through without skipping through a song and that's very rare because I'm super picky. I'm a big fan of Beyonce but Solange holds her own on this album. YOU BETTER WORK IT, SOLANGE!! -XOXO

I was skeptical and passed this CD up many times in the store, but it seemed to catch my attention every time I browsed, so I finally picked it up today and needless to say, if you've heard it already you know; it's bad! Sol-Angel has got that retro Gnarls Barkley high minded soul groove thang going on; it flows from start to finish... She succeeds and steps up with the same attitude big sis has, but on another level!
I'm leaving Sasha for Solange!

I admit I am an old soul and have a soft spot for the old school-motown era sound. Amy and Duffy have been close in the search for that perfect sound, but I think Solange nails it on the head. She found it and it suits her. In these days of music, its very rare to find a cd you can listen to all the way through and not get bored. But this cd is GREAT! I absolutely love it!!! Good Job Solange.
oh yeah, way better than ANYTHING she who must not be named ever put out. Thanks for making music good again!
