Amazon.com Amazon.com essential recording One of the must-own soul albums, Greatest Hits is fattened with extra tracks in this reissue for a total of 21 songs. Al Green brought the Memphis Sound into the '70s by slightly softening it, melding smooth funkiness with his miraculous voice and innate sensitivity: his love songs, while perfect for the bedroom, are as conversational as they are blatantly seductive. By adding the likes of "Belle," a 1977 single that's a near-goodbye to the pop life, to the original lineup of "Let's Stay Together," "Look What You Done for Me," "Call Me," and the others, this edition of Greatest Hits also intriguingly fills out the story. --Rickey Wright Al Green Photos More Al Green Let's Stay Together | I'm Still in Love With You | Call Me |

Al Green Definitive Greatest Hits October 24, 2008 one of all time great classics - this guy didn't know how good he really is - sounds as good as it did 35 years ago
Without a doubt: this is the definitive October 2, 2008 Al Green is a soul legend. That's a fact. But I never found a compilation of him as perfect as this fine one. Here you can find all the great hits from this soul king born in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1946. From "Back Up Train" with the Soul Mates, to "Perfect To Me" recorded in 2004. The sound is perfect (all the tracks have been digitally remastered) and the photographies included in the cd are simply amazing. 21 tracks complete this strongly recommended cd from a man who symbolized the secular and the sacred that gave soul music its emotional power.
Still Laying it DOWN!!! September 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This guy is still amazing after all these years. I recently ( as I'm sure many of you did) seen The Rev. throw down on the BET music awards...a show that was headlined by every New RAP ARTIST that's out today and it was a 70's Soul icon that broughtthe house down! Here you get all his greatest hits including the classics "Let's Stay Together", "Still In Love" and "Love & Happiness"to name just 3 classics. Let's get married, Call me, Here I am, Tired of Being alone are also classics that will never die. In todays world of lack luster artisits and empty lyrics this is a great way to revisit the BEST OF SOUL music from one of the best ever. Rev. Al Green is soulful, powerful and is one of the most influential R&B Artists of all time. This is a great compilation for beginners and If you've never heard Al Green and you want to get into the way music use to be when it had real soul...look no further..."Sha-La-La"
Romantic classic R&B August 10, 2008 Over the years, I've gotten to love this collection of Al Green songs even more. If you want to set a romantic mood, definitely include this one!
oooh, so nice August 9, 2008 It's wonderful listening to Al Green's greatest hits. The songs are as fresh today as they were when they were recorded many years ago. Focus in on "Take Me to the River." Boy, is it hot!
