IL Divo The Promise Review November 23, 2008 Totally out of my music box, pun intended. I received IL Divo's cd, The Promise not knowing fully what to expect.
The songs have a tune that I like and enjoy but the vocals were a bit unexpected. I've never listened to opera music much but I could learn to like it. The pop inspiration was there, along with the operatic vocals, a nice change to what is normally in my ears.
Amazing Grace is my favorite, but all of the selections were ones that I could play, rewind and repeat often. It will be fun to get to know opera and the group that is IL Divo.

Another very good Il Divo CD! Their voices always amaze me...and I can listen to them over and over and over again. Although I did not like the song selection as much as their other CDs, I did enjoy this CD and have listened to it several times already. I recommend it to anyone who is (or does not yet know this group) an Il Divo fan! Enjoy!

Very dissapointed in this CD. With all the hype from apprearances on Oprah and Regis&Kelly expected much more. Amazing Grace on the CD is no where near the wonderful rendition they gave on those shows. What a shame to promote the CD with those renditions and not being able to produce them on this CD.
Great to listen to after a hectic day! November 21, 2008 This is my first Il Divo CD after admiring them for a long time. 'The Promise' has a lovely song selection. The piece de resistance is, of course, 'Amazing Grace', but my family and I are loving all the songs. If it's beautiful enough to get a 9 year old to mellow out, then you know it's truly magical! 5 stars!
Amazingly full of grace November 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I feel uplifted by this music, the combination of strong melody and gorgeous voices. Perhaps it is years of rock, hard rock, acid rock, heavy metal, rap and hip hop and stoned artists dying young that makes Il Divo's combination of training and maturity and clean living and celebration of world-class talent so utterly captivating for me. Hallelujah is mesmerizing. The Power of Love is exalting. Enamorado has powerful solo voice work that shines. I didn't think anyone could sing The Winner Takes it All better than Abba, but I bet they would like this version. I listen to this music in my studio when I paint and on the road so that I'm in a better place than clogged traffic.
