Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
In 2006 the Melvins released (A) Senile Animal, some 22 years after they started the band released one of the best received records of their career. The album marked the end of a revolving door of musicians with the very welcome annexation of Jared and Coady of Big Business. The refreshed quartet, now featuring double drummers, graced the cover of The Wire, received a 5/5 in Alternative Press, a 9/10 in Revolver and Pitchfork commented, "(A) Senile Animal stands as the band's most no-frills, accessible, and flat-out best album since Stoner Witch."

Now the band returns with "Nude With Boots" (July 8, Ipecac). Recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year, the eleven track album cements the resurgence of The Melvins. Tour dates are forthcoming.

3 out of 5 stars Melvins just okay   October 27, 2008

"Nude with Boots" is my first Melvins CD. I like the instrumental - good guitar, good energy. The vocals make it mediocre. There are one or two songs that I enjoy, otherwise I find myself skipping to a different album.

5 out of 5 stars Rock'n roll soul   September 1, 2008
Well, just raw underground rock'n'roll. Savage energy, can tell those guys have influenced many now successful bands. Clever music and irresistible riffs, grooves, album. Don't miss this little beast, you'll probably become addicted to it, like me.

4 out of 5 stars new melvins rocks   August 30, 2008
this new melvins cd took a few listens to get into but like other melvins albums, senile animal, the maggot, when you start to get it it keeps getting better and better.not as metalish as the forementioned,it`s nice to hear something that isn`t so generic you get bored with it easily.I enjoy this about the melvins last few albums,It seems to me that hanging with mike patton has turned buzzo into a riff master that somehow can take simple metal riffs shake them around a little and make them sound fresh. my biggest beef with metal bands today is that they are all playing the same song, this new melvins album brings some freshness to a stale genre.buy this and enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars not great, just ok   August 14, 2008

Any melvins fan will enjoy this, but I don't think is as good as senile animal. To me it seems that the young kids from big business are making the melvins become more mellow. Smiling cobra rocks, but for me that is about it. The rest of the album is just so-so. I was a little let down with this effort. The melvins still rock and will forever be my favorite band, but if you are into the new form of the melvins stick with a senila animal.

5 out of 5 stars Melvins have never been better   August 13, 2008
The newest Melvins release, Nude With Boots is damn good.

In 2006, the Melvins added the rhythm section of Coady Willis on drums and Jared Warren on bass and vocals with the release of A Senile Animal. This rhythm section along with Jared's contribution to vocals was a great addition to the Melvins sound. It was a ballsy and raw record but at the same time, the most precise and focused Melvins record I have ever heard. I saw them on that tour before I heard the album and was blown away!

Nude With Boots is an extension of A Senile Animal that refines their sound even further. It has some fine playing, and songs covering a variety of styles without getting too weird.

I have liked the Melvins for a long time but on most of their releases, I wish there was a little less experimental or ambient type stuff. The songs on the new disc are hard rocking, cohesive and cool. Don't worry old Melvins fans, even being a little less weird, it is still undeniably a Melvins record. Nobody sounds like them. I personally hope they keep pushing in this direction.
