Amazon.com Move over bossa nova! There's a new beat coming out of Brazil in the form of Cansei de Ser Sexy (Portuguese for "Tired of Being So Sexy"), and it's raucous. CSS consists of six 20-something Sao Paulistas who are injecting some international exuberance into the Seattle-based Sub Pop label. The only inkling that the group hails from the Southern Hemisphere is the smattering of Brazilian-tinged Portuguese that peppers the album, along with a barely detectable accent in lead singer Lovefoxxx's delivery. The CSS sound is far from traditional folksy world music; rather, it's a mishmash of '80s new wave, electronica, danceable beats, and cheeky lyrics (which are just a bit naughty). Think Berlin and Blondie, with a dash of Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Muffin Spencer of Brassy. This largely female group (all women except the drummer) will have you running to the dance floor in your slouchy boots and skinny jeans faster than you can say "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above"--the first single from the album. --Renata Sadunas
Album Description From Brazil, CSS is the first South American band Sub Pop has foisted upon the global marketplace. The title is Portuguese for "Tired Of Being Sexy" and the sound is a thick, pulsating thing full of haphazard synths and a come-on of call and response that tears down any attempt at posturing. It's equal parts rock mantra and throwback into something new, transcending boundaries of genre and geography. It goes full speed into dance territory, into the unknown and untouched, to emerge all hot and bothered with wild electro-rock. Quick, tightly-wound, unfastened, and supreme.
Album Description Major-label reissue of debut album from Sao Paolo indie sensations, who met on social networking sites, formed without being able to play a note and claim that the internet is their homeland. Their raw fusion of untutored, shambolic primitivism, punk energy, electronic noises and Latin American sexiness makes for a short, sweet blast of far out pop music that sounds like nothing else.

Good Music All Around April 14, 2008 All in all this was a fun CD to listen to. CSS doesn't really take themselves or their music too seriously, which is refreshing. Some of the songs sounded similar to one another, but all in all it is is a CD that is really fun to listen to.
Fun Dance Album December 17, 2007 Brazil's CSS hit stores, and after hearing the song Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex in an iPhone ad, and after loving it, I knew I had to buy this album, Cansei de ser Sexy, when, translated, means "Tired Of Being Sexy." This a very fun, entertaining dance-oriented album that is very fun and upbeat, and anybody who enjoys fun dance music should buy this album because it is simply dancerific!
Music is my king sized bed... November 19, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Cansei de Ser Sexy Cansei De Ser Sexy, which is Portuguese for "Tired of Being Sexy", is better known as CSS, and is now very well known as the band behind the "music is my boyfriend..." song from the new iPod Touch commercial. Having their song, actually entitled "Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex" and originally released in 2006, featured in the commercial has landed the single at #92 on Billboard's Pop 100 and the album at #19 on Billboard's Top Electronic Albums (as of 11/24/07). There is no doubt that it is a fun, easily danceable song, and worthy of the recognition even before it's cameo with the iPod Touch. The question is, what about the rest of the album? If you are into tongue-in-cheek lyrics and playful beats, you may very well enjoy what CSS has to offer. It reminds me quite a bit of Aqua's 1997 "Barbie Girl", although perhaps not quite as charming with songs like "Art Bitch" and "*uckoff Is Not The Only Thing You Have To Show". However, it all seems to be in a fun-loving spirit, so if you're looking for a couple of dance tracks you can impress your friends with for about another month, download a little CSS!
They might be tired of being sexy... July 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...But they definitely have plenty of energy to make you wanna dance. I love this album! I enjoy the raunchy lyrics better than others like Peaches - maybe it's the cute brazilian accent.
lets make digital 21st. century punkfunk July 29, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This sound is an interesting mix that reminds me of the post punkers Bush Tetras from my home town NYC in the early eighties, as well as Tom Tom Club in mid-eighties (I always mix in these bands wth CSS along with Sigue Sigue Sputnik, but CSS have successfully managed to transecend that sound with a new millenium energetic fulgent space-race sound that electrofunk's its way to my deejay playlist always these daze. Bravo. Love this album, love these girls and love Brazil!!!
