Well Done August 16, 2010 Negoba (St. Louis, MO USA) The only thing I'd heard from BT before picking up this album was the title track to "Furr." I'd heard this was a proggy update of their sound. And I've really enjoyed this album. The title track is the most adventurous, but there is some great 60's and 70's influence new folk here. Very solid work.
The negative reviews seemed to be from people who had previous work and say this is a step backwards. But as someone with very little previous exposure, this is quite a good album. I may go buy the earlier albums and compare.

I am a huge fan of Blitzen Trapper, and thought Furr was one of the best if not the very best album of 2008. I downloaded this record without sampling or reading anything, just full trust that it would be worth owning. maybe its the sequencing, but I have tried to listen to this on a few occasions now, and it just simply doesn't hold my attention. So far its just boring and kind of messy. Maybe it will grow on me. but for now, I'm just kind of bummed out about this one. Get Furr instead.
Influence from the best 70's and 60's bands!!!! July 18, 2010 Lori Carper (Woodstock, GA United States) This is an amazing album! What a gem! I can hear inlfuences from Queen, Jefferson Airplane, Yes, Old Rush, Kansas, Jethro Tull, Styx, Led Zeppelin...
With a middle ages, fantasy, dragon genre theme and flare, this is a grand album all of the way through.
What a great sound...I Love it!!!
Decent..not as good as Furr July 16, 2010 ShaunP 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Too many slow boring songs. Furr is way better and it seemed like they barely had to try. Dude's vocals just sound off on this CD and i think they should have focused a little more on the instrumental aspect instead.
A bit disappointing July 12, 2010 Mr. Music (Sydney, Australia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really looking forward to this album as, for me, Blitzen Trapper are one of the more exciting bands that has come along in recent years. I have to say though that I was pretty disappointed with this one - just too many of the ballads/slower songs and not enough rock/guitars for my liking. I know BT do the softer stuff well, but I didn't want a whole album of it, especially coming on the heels of the outstanding title track, which really does dwarf the rest of the material both in scope and execution. The rest of the album, unfortunately is too understated to really make an impact. It's still a nice album, but not the essential one I was hoping for, and not as good or as exciting as Furr.
