Finally some decent music to listen to! November 18, 2008 I have to say I have been a fan of The L Word so after hearing some songs from the cd on the show I knew I had to get this cd. It made me Think of Veruca salt which I loved with the 2 women vocals but I like Leisha and Camila as a duo. Very good cd I've been waiting for something decent to listen to that has come out recently. Music has been sucking so much lately that I have mostly songs from the 90's on my mp3 player. Thank you Uh Huh Her for something I can call music!
Uh Huh Good CD October 21, 2008 This CD is very upbeat and can really get you moving. Listened to some of the songs on myspace.com and got a feel for the CD. It was well worth the wait. Can't wait for the next one to come out. You know it's good if Leisha Hailey is in the band.
Common Five Star Reaction September 13, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album truly shimmers from beginning to end. Purchasing after hearing "Explode", I was hopeful that there was more to this band than a one-hit punch. Surprisingly, each song is sugar to the ears, blending electronica and rock, while adding just a hint of sweetener to each song. The hooks are huge, and the vocals are as alluring, gritty, and downright sexy. There's a tragic longing to each of these songs, creating the electrical mood often experienced with a first love, and inherently, first heartbreak. It's nice to hear an album that just flows great from one song into the next. Definately worth the purchase.

As some other people have said, it's a bit hard to describe UHH's new record. Forget categories, genres, and labels... it's just so easy on the ears! The only two songs I tend to skip are "Everyone" and "Dreamer", but it's hard to have a CD where you love every single song, so 9 out of 11 isn't bad at all. Give it a try! You'll love it. P.S. I saw these two ladies perform live last year, they're awesome!
Hauntingly beautiful album. September 1, 2008 Yep, I'll go ahead and admit it. Just like almost every Uh Huh Her fan, I heard about the band because Leisha Hailey (of L Word fame) makes up 1/2 of the duo (the other member being Camila Grey). I had heard a few of their songs several months ago but nothing really clicked until I heard "Not A Love Song". The day that I heard that song, I preordered the album and it's been in my CD player ever since its release date.
Conveniently, the first song to kick off the album is the first song from the band that made me a dedicated fan, "Not A Love Song". My absolute favorite part of the song is the bass during the chorus. Talk about infectious!! From there we go to "Explode" which contains very sexy lyrics and a crazy intro. Another of my favorite songs is "Wait Another Day" which is a bit more slowed down then the rest of the songs but the chorus is still catchy as heck.
Another reviewer mentioned that Uh Huh Her sounds a lot like ABBA and the best song that demonstrates this is "Common Reaction". The vocals, the instruments, it all sounds like ABBA in the best way. "Say So" is one of the two older songs from the band (the other being "Explode") to make it on the album. "Say So" is one of the more commercial sounding songs on the album. The bridge is the highlight of the song. And right away we kick back into "Covered" which features the wonderful electronic sounds that UHH is known for. "Covered" is not my favorite song on the album but it's still a good tune.
"Everyone" is probably my least favorite song from Common Reaction. It's just not as catchy as the others. I love the guitars however. "Away From Me" is so hauntingly beautiful. The instruments used in this song really make the song as great as it is. Don't quote me on this but I believe Leisha has said that the next song, "So Long" is about something that's both good and bad for you. It's the shortest song on the album (clocking in at 2:42) but it's long enough to pack a powerful punch.
My third favorite song on the album is "Dance With Me". Why? Because it makes you want to get up and, well, dance. Again, I'm a lover of the bass in this song (and it's even better live). And ending this wonderful album is "Dreamer". "Dreamer" is the only ballad on the album (unless you count "Wait Another Day" although it's pretty upbeat). In a word? Beautiful. What a delightful way to end this impressing collection of songs.
Overall, if I'm giving my unbiased opinion, there's only two songs on the album that are just "OK" in my opinion. Leisha lovers and lovers of just good music in general will truly dig this album. I highly recommend it.
