Swing Treasure July 23, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This incredible collection will explain to all listeneres why is Wilson one of the best pianist in the swing stlye. Wilson really shines with sideman and singers such as Buck Clayton, Red Norvo, Charlie Shavers,Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Ben Webster, Sarah Vaughan or Lester Young, but he is also brilliant on solo recordings. Naturally, Wilson's playing in the period after the swing-era also contains many gems, but that fact can't take away nothing from this compillation. Incidently, I got this box as a present and was really thrilled by it. I think this makes a great gift for any classical jazz fan (or for students of piano in general who want to learn something about the art of piano in jazz).

This is just great, really nice sound and such a bargain. Snap it up.
Superb. July 10, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a bargain! Most all of Teddy's indispensable 1930s recordings, with a good selection of early to mid '40s too. The Billie Holiday sides are easy to find elsewhere, but much of the rest is not, and it's great to hear them all in one place. Clean sound with great presence for the era (better than most of Columbia's reissues). Great at any price, unbelievable for this price.
