Amazon.com This collection of 16 OMD songs includes all their singles, including "If You Leave" (from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack) and "So in Love." OMD's sound is trademarked mostly by Paul Humphrey and Andy McCluskey's glassy-smooth vocals, along with harmonies that occasionally crack for dramatic emphasis but never shatter. The music is classic early '80s synth-pop, with swelling, hopeful strings and low-key tempos sugar-crusted to keep the songs rich but not totally fluffy. --Beth Bessmer
Album Description Out of print in the U.S. UK reissue of this 1988 compilation from the Liverpudlian Synthpopsters featuring two tracks not available on the original U.S. pressing: 'Telegraph' and 'Genetic Engineering'. Released at the height of their success, this collection spanned their career up to 1988, beginning with the 1980 single 'Electricity' and ending with 'Dreaming', a track recorded specifically for this collection (and the final track released from the original duo since they split up shortly after this album was released). 18 tracks including 'Messages', 'If You Leave', 'Tesla Girls', 'Enola Gay' plus bonus extended mixes of 'We Love You' and 'La Femme Accident'. Disky.

Their First Album on Dindisc Records Made a Big Splash in the UK and on College Radio in the USA VIRGIN/EPIC Tried to Release a Hybrid Record of their First Two Albums that Met with Moderate Success. But it Wasn't Until the Placement of "if You Leave" in the Motion Picture "Pretty in Pink" and the Decsion to Market Thru A&m Records that the Band Finally Cracked the USA Charts.

The Best of OMD August 29, 2008 This CD is really the best. The CD is really great and exceeded my expectations. The service and price was excellent also. I received it in a timely manner and in first class condition
Solid Collection -- Good Stuff July 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
An inexpensive way to get yourself a copy of most of OMD's best work. Most of their classics on one disc. Good intro for the newbie.
Mix seems a bit bass-heavy to me but it sounds better that way--gives authority to the music and avoids the dreaded sharp vocals/shrill synths syndrome.
I used to disdain this band but now, having heard more of their work it's clear they are songwriting wizards casting their special style of sentimental spells with mastery.
Great CD April 6, 2008 This is a great CD. I had forgotten just how good OMD was. I bought the CD rather than just burn the song I wanted on a CD because I wanted to hear more of their works. This was a great investment, and I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys OMD or just plain good music.
Great CD March 29, 2008 I just love this CD... it brings back so many great memories of my teenage years back in Germany in the 80s. It really captures the new wave/synth music which was so popular back then in Europe and played on the radios and clubs all the time. I especially love their early song "Souvenir". This CD is one of my all time favorites...
Awesome CD!! January 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are an OMD fan this is a must have! It has all of their best songs. Worth every penny.
