It should be little surprise that of the three Prince of Egypt CDs, this one, which contains music actually used in the picture, is the best. The disc features songs written by Academy Award winners Stephen Schwartz and Hans Zimmer. It also showcases the always impressive vocal talents of Ofra Haza on several tracks. The disc also crams in a few singles--ranging from the solid Boyz II Men track "I Will Get There" to the average "The Prince of Egypt (When You Believe)" by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to the dismal "Through Heaven's Eyes," by K-Ci & JoJo. But ultimately, Haza steals the show on tracks like "Cry" and the gorgeous "Deliver Us," performed with Eden Riegel. Other standouts include "Playing with the Big Boys," by Steve Martin and Martin Short, and a pleasant, if not unexpected, vocal by Michelle Pfeiffer on "When You Believe." --Aaron Tassano

 Great Music From A Respectful Animated Remake. August 18, 2010

The music from the Academy Award winning film "The Prince Of Egypt" is very well done, except for the contemporary junk they threw in (KC & Jojo, Boyz II Men, etc). My favourite tracks are only the ones which were actually used in the movie, especially "The Plagues," which features a fine performance (albeit all too brief) from Ralph Fiennes, aside from the wonderful visual of fire raining down in the scene. The movie itself is a respectful animated remake of "The Ten Commandments" and of the Biblical story of Moses in Exodus-Deuteronomy, the last four books of the Torah. Hans Zimmer is a musical genius, and he proves it yet again here.

After purchasing this CD I was excited to listen to all the great songs from the movie, but when I started listening to it some songs were just music with no vocals. Overall the songs that I wanted to hear had vocals so I was happy about that, but I was just surprised that the rest were music only. Overall it was a great purchase I recommend this product for everyone who loved the music from the movie.
