Product Description As the title indicates, Facemelter - the anticipated new recording from Y&T - is a hard rockin', song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band's raw energy and tightness that they've become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes - the same artist who designed covers for Y&T's classic albums Mean Streak, Black Tiger and In Rock We Trust - to create the amazing art of the new Facemelter. Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-'70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, ''you melted my face'' which inspired the group's first publishing company: Facemelting Music. If you haven't yet taken Y&T's new album for a ride, grab your leathers, strap yourself in, and prepare to have your face melted.

ON WITH THE SHOW!! August 26, 2010 SugarGirl (Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great comeback with this new cd. Hard rockin' tunes that will "melt your face" and keep you listening over and over. Not a song that I don't like. These guys still have it and keep giving it to you. SHINE ON & HOT SHOT are a few of the standouts for me, as well as a great ballad in IF YOU WANT ME. So I say, ON WITH THE SHOW, Y&T!!!
Y & T is still Y & T. August 21, 2010 Shawn (PA USA)
Y&T is my all-time fav metal band ,80s or whatever. I never got to see the boys live but I heard about their legedary shows. Yes legendary. They are truly an amazing live act. They made great albums but Y&T kills on stage- it's their thing.
I cut my teeth on "In Rock We Trust" and was FOREVER hooked. I wore out all my Y&T cassettes and even had 'Mean Streak,"Black Tiger" on vinyl. So a new cd...
I love the new album. It took 2-3 listens esp on headphones to get used to the band's sound. Dave Meniketti sounds fantasic-vocals & guitar. The man can still play. Dave's amazing metal roar may have been tamed a bit w/ age but his voice is still great. I'm not too crazy about the new drummer. Jimmy DeGrasso was a beast on the skins. His drum sound was the best I heard next to Eric Carr & Lars Ulrich(my favs). He made Leonard Haze's departure become Leonard who. I'm not too crazy about the new guitarist. I think Dave n Phil could have found better musicians in my opinion. Don't get me wrong they pass with a push.
It's dave's voice plus his writing that make this cd. A little too tongue in cheeky w/ 'Gonna Go Blind'. It's kinda silly today. Tracks 2-7 are just classic Y&T tunes. In Rock We Trust, Mean Streak etc revisted. Fantastic comeback, great new cd.

been a fan of y&t since the early days - -- hard to compare this to the old classics - in rock we trust / black tiger / etc those are easily 5 star efforts - - - -the energy isnt what it used to but the guys arent 20 either...
after the first 2 or 3 listens i started to get a little more used to the new sound - dont get me wrong there is talent in the band and the production is pretty good too...
all in all i like the album but miss the zest the band had in the early days but still a solid effort . . . worth a listen - - -
BTW - the solo works by Meneketti are much better than this album and worth a try by those interested in hot blues / rock - - -some of the material there is almost on par with the Gary Moore Blues CD's which isnt an easy feat by any stretch
A solid Effort August 16, 2010 Brian Bergen (USA) Face Melter is a good solid album from Y&T. The opener "prelude", is a little wierd but redeems itself with the very strong "On With The show". "How long" rocks and "Shine on" has a definite "Dirty Girl" vibe. There are plenty of cool riffs ("I want your money") and clasic sounding stuff ("I'm Coming Home"). Blind Patriot is one of the Best songs. The middle solo is awesome. I'd love to see it live. The extremely tounge in cheek lyrics of "Gonna Go Blind" do not work next to other stronger tunes. Dave Meniketti's singing and guitar playing shine throughout. Another solid album from a great Band.
Definitely worth waiting 13 years for!! August 3, 2010 T. Bukre 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Been listening to Y&T since 1976 when they were called Yesterday & Today. This CD is their best release since Mean Streak. I love every CD Y&T has ever released, but this one ranks up there with Earthshaker, Black Tiger , and Mean Streak. It has everything those 3 albums had. Solid hard rocking songs, a great ballad, and everything inbetween. The band sounds great and it's been 13 years since their last release, but it was definitely worth waiting for this new release.
Thank you Y&T and hoping for more albums in the near future!!
