Album Description Welcome to the Playlist series. We've fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but...the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are. You'll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file. You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come! Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

The Definitive Marvin Gaye Collection December 14, 2008 This is a stunning playlist as well as epic. Comprised entirely of material Post-Motown. But don't let that be a downer for you because greatest work was done right here.
The first song is his rendition, the greatest performance of The Star Spangled Banner ever from the 1983 NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles. Next comes Rockin' After Mid-night, an amazing love song that is happy and pounding from beginning to end. I Live For You will be a treat for many as it will most likely be the first time you have ever heard. It's a very moving and almost surreal in it's fluidity. Happy Go Lucky is a fine feel good song but for me it doesn't really blow me away. I like it though. Stranger In My Life is a very sweet song that I would say falls somewhere in between the prior two tracks as far as quality goes. It doesn't blow me away, but then it also stands out too me as above average. Turn On Some Music is a song that defines Marvin. It is a clear declaration of just how important music and his art is too him. He was never in any of what he was into for money or fame, but rather because Music meant everything to him. Singing meant everything to him. The next song, A 12" version of Sexual Healing just simply AWESOME. This song, I think has to be Marvins Signature Composition and the most compelling since it was this track that got him back on top. While living almost as bum on the beaches of Jamaica, Marvin one day struck gold and CBS records were the lucky beneficieries. This version is so much superior to the one you hear on the radio or the album Mid-night Love. It's just un-believable. Next is another great track, Santified Lady, you could listen to this song a hundred times over and not get sick of it, I'll leave it that. Joy is really another song that defines Marvin in my opinion because if you know everything that he suffered through in his life and yet he could still create a song like this of such beauty and glory is something special to me. Rather than lament on all the things that bring us pain, Marvin decides instead to document and sing about everything that makes us smile. Ain't It Funny (How Things Turn Around) is a funky song that really get's better with each listen. Third World Girl is a dedication to Bob Marley strait from Marvin's heart and as well it is an ode to the beautiful women of Jamaica. Awesome Song! Walking In The Rain is...well...Beautiful and touching. It seems from the title to imply it will be a sad song, but it's not. It's a song about walking in the rain with the one you love and how just having them there makes you not care that's it raining. This is a metaphor to me for much more than rain. When you have the one you love, everything is okay, no matter what, because they are there and I would say again this is a defining song for Marvin as he struggles against all that is so painful and turns it into something happy. The live version of God Is Love is quite sweet and I have to say just the right length. It's another one of those songs that defines Marvin Gaye. And remember, all the God ask's is that we give each other love. Finally, the live version of What's Going On will make you forget about the studio version forever or what ever other version you are listening too. It's the perfect way to end the cd. You are left with Marvin calling out for us to love eachother. Love eachother. Love eachother. It will give you chills.
Marvin Gaye Playlist is the Greatest Collection of Marvin Ever and I don't ever see it being equaled. Thank You to the creators.
