You Still Can't Always Get What You Want January 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the second of two soundtrack CDs issued for the movie "The Big Chill" (the first being The Big Chill - 15th Anniversary: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) and it contains the remaining songs from the movie that were not included in the first album, along with four additional songs from the same era that were not actually included in the movie: "It's the Same Old Song", "Dancing in the Street", "What's Going On" and "Too Many Fish in the Sea". Presumably these songs were included so that this album didn't end up being too short.
Considering that it was necessary for the producers of this album to pad this CD out with additional music, it is disappointing to note that, as in the first "Big Chill" CD, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" (the Rolling Stones song played at the funeral) has once again been omitted. This is apparently due to the fact that the Rolling Stones do not allow their songs to be included on albums other than their own. For people trying to obtain this song, it can be found on a number of Rolling Stones CDs including Let It Bleed [DSD]. Even without this song, this is still a great CD containing some of the best songs of the Big Chill era, but is slightly less satisfying than the first volume of the "Big Chill" soundtrack.
Great Music, from Start to Finish! September 21, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This CD is filled with great oldies tunes from start to finish. If you like oldies, BUY THIS CD!!! For those of you who would like more music from the motion picture, buy The Big Chill Deluxe Edition, which is a 2-disc set with 19 hits. Great music, I can't say enough about this CD.
The Big Chill April 1, 2003 19 out of 33 found this review helpful
If I can't buy the cd with ALL THE SONGS that were played in the movie then I won't buy it. I know one cd could cover the entire movie so why can't this be done? Does it concern copy rights and releases?
A CD I Can Leave On June 20, 2002 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Now THAT's an ultimate complement. The CD's you can let play, and you don't have to flip to any particular song, because, guess what, they're ALL fantastic! In addition, the movie was fantastic, so I think remembering the movie kind of helps me along when I'm listening. However, seen the movie or not, this is a great soundtrack and it's fun to listen to, while you're cleaning, lying around, or even throwing a party. I highly recommend; enjoy!
Where are the other missing songs? May 20, 2001 18 out of 30 found this review helpful
I have seen the movie and I know that there are more songs than even these. What happened to Gimme Some Lovin and You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones. Just to name a few songs that are missing. I wish it could have been a complete soundtrack it owuld have worth spending the money.
