| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description 180 Gram Vinyl Record LP. I Want You is a 1976 album by Marvin Gaye. The album was his first recorded studio material released in three years and marked a change in direction for Gaye, leaving his trademark Motown soul for funky, light-disco soul. Much of Gaye's music encompassed spirituality, sexuality, and vulnerability. With a career spanning over more than a decade, it's no wonder that many of today's artists continue to honor and emulate Gaye. Although no longer a physical presence, his existence as an artist is one that is sure to be a vital part of the millennium and beyond.

Marvin Gaye -All the jams September 29, 2008 Some of Marvin's greatest work! This is a good CD for easy listening. Back when music meant so much. I grew up listening to REAL music like this.
The Absolute Best Album EVER!!! September 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received this album on my 16th birthday in 1976 from my first "real" boyfriend. 32 years later, my husband and I still listen to this often. It is a timeless masterpiece of music. My favorites "Come Live With Me Angel" and "Feel All My Love Inside" have me rockin' at work played on my IPod. The bass guitar make love to the drums while the string section makes love to the rhythm guitar, and Marvin...Well he makes love to us all. He is greatly missed!
CLOSING DEALS August 31, 2008 put this album on with your girlfriend over and deals will be closed "great mood music"
I Want You March 1, 2008 This is the sexiest cd I have...It is beautiful music for chilling with friends or if you are with your mate...put on something nice...get a light meal and some wine oh baby you will play it all weekend...Luv Brigette in Philly
Marvin sings for the Lovers December 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When vinyl was becoming less the mainstay due to the availability of audio cassettes, and cassette players to the average consumers, I was only 12 when my pops bought this album back in 1976. I played it more than he did (when he wasn't looking). I was already a fan of Marvin's work as a little kid when my mother bought home his 1971 masterpiece album "What's going on".
Even though this album is adult oriented and I was only 12 years old, I was feeling Marvin's music and his style of singing. This particular album is one of those pieces of work made for couples after hours. And Marvin serves up crooning in his trademark sultry, and sexy style. It has in whole it's own style and concept and maintains that through all the tracks. The songs while distinct from one another stays in a realm of familiarity, sharing characteristics to style and genre. This is a hard balance to achieve because songs can either sound cookie cutter, or so unique and independent the flow of the album becomes disjointed and jarring.
Tracks 1 - 6 flows beautifully and is the meat of this recording and has no fillers, (track 6 is a short instrumental reprise of "I Want You"). Tracks 7 - 11 stays within the motif of the album but almost borders on fillers at times when compared to the flow of tracks 1 - 6. (That is only my opinion).
The album in whole is intended to be listened to uninterrupted, beginning to end while "getting down" with your significant other. In other words this would be considered a "mix tape or CD" of slow jams on vinyl with a concept. Back in the mid '70s the only way to play a number of slow jams in a row is to have owned an expensive reel-to-reel tape player, (quality audio cassette players were just taking off and still pricey).
This is a must have for any true Marvin Gaye fan. Marvin's music here was all about loving your woman in a classic, meaningful, and soulful manner befitting of a lady. The album is about the romance, the chase, and the anticipation of erotic love making. You cannot go wrong adding this to your collection of old slow jams. I really miss this man he truly sang for the lovers.
