Amazon.com With a couple of exceptions, the showroom- and talk-show-ready Temptations of In a Mellow Mood (1967) are handed the most impersonal, cliched sort of standards. "Hello Young Lovers," "Try to Remember," and too many others here go through the motions of connecting with listeners but are so haplessly written that the reined-in quintet is hard-pressed to fill them with more than a thimbleful of sweat. "Somewhere" is a foolproof melody that might have made a fine change of pace on a record like With a Lot o' Soul, but this version of "Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)" has none of the redeeming qualities of Dionne Warwick's. Paradoxically blessed with little of the class the group normally commanded, Mellow Mood stands as an expression of Berry Gordy's worst aesthetic impulses. --Rickey Wright

Temptations in a Mellow Mood May 3, 2008 Classic temptations. May be their best album ever. Full participation from all members of the group. Had been looking for this CD for a long time. Will enjoy it for a long time to come.
Tempting Temptations July 19, 2007 This is one of the Temptations historical classical landmarks and greatest albums... very serene, loving, and asuring...The title is sooo appropriate... "Mellow Mood"
breaths new life into mostly Broadway standards... April 25, 2007 While I am not an expert on Motown music, I have liked most of what I've heard from The Temptations ("Just My Imagination" is my favorite"). This imaginative recording is full of rich contrasts of emotion, color and harmonies; breaths new life into mostly Broadway standards.
P.S. See also the outstanding Temptations Christmas record.
In A Mellow Mood March 29, 2007 This is a wonderful cd. If you like the classic Temp`s, you must get this one.Paul on Who can I turn to is great, not to mention David on Impossible Dream,my favorite. This is a must have for any Temp`s collection.
