Originally from Vancouver B.C. and signed by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback to his 604 Records label (where the band is still signed in Canada), Theory is following up a very successful sophomore album cycle (GASOLINE) that included the huge radio hits "Santa Monica," "No Surprise" and "Hello Lonely." Theory are road dogs and expect to be on the road for 2 years straight to support their new album SCARS & SOUVENIRS. The balanced 13-track effort is the polished and passionate testament to seven years of hard work, heavy touring and diligent attention to its craft. From the swirling grinds of the first single "So Happy" to the soaring melodicism of "Not Meant to Be" and "By The Way," Scars & Souvenirs is a broad-reaching endeavor that puts singer/guitarist Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back high in the rock pantheon, achieving creative growth without sacrificing the hard-hitting power that got them here in the first place.

"It's the Scars & Souvenirs of your life," Connolly explains. "The songwriting on the record is really about someone's past or and present, their relationships and how they shape everything. It's more metaphorical than physical scars and trophies. We're just a hard-working band, man. We want to be out there for a couple of years and play these songs to everybody we possibly can." Tyler also contributed guitar and appeared in the video for Chad Kroeger's #1 smash hit "Hero," the theme song to the massive Spider-Man movie.

5 out of 5 stars introduce my teenage daughter   December 22, 2008
My teenage daughter turned me onto TOAD. I was touched by Wait For Me, I cry whenever I hear the song. I also love By The Way.

5 out of 5 stars First time listener - New Fan!!   December 13, 2008

I bought this CD because I heard BAD GIRLFRIEND on the radio. I liked that song so well that I thought I would take a chance on buying the CD in hopes I might like other songs. Their basic sound reminds me of Nickleback, but with more of an edge. Now I'm not a teenager by any stretch (over 50 and a grandmother)and my taste has never run to hard rock, but never say never. (This group, Theory of a Deadman, would probably cringe if they read this.) The more I listen to this CD, the more I love it. I'm sure I am not their average fan, but after playing it in my office, several of my work associates are also new fans. There is not one track I don't like. Although I particulary like Sacrifice and the poignant Wait for Me; Bad Girlfriend remains the track I want to hear when I'm on the road. I am sure I'll sample and buy more of their music. Who knows? With music this good, I may show up at a concert!!

4 out of 5 stars Never heard of them till today   November 11, 2008
They clearly sound like Nickleback and this is the first time I ever heard them. They sound related throw in a little puddle of mud and seether.I think of them the same as Nickleback they can make some good stuff but the girly songs like Not Meant To Be if they both didnt make crap like this I'd like them both much more.I understand they both make music for females but that doesn't make it good.I know both bands can make more meaner stuff instead of these cheesy love songs that make me want to sleep.

By the Way/Crutch has girly lyrics but the songs doesn't sound as girly. It's still not mean enough sounding for me.Bad girlfriend is more the attitude I'm looking for but the song itself is ok.

I'm not fully bashing them I'm giving them 4 stars for their good songs on here.Got it made is cool.If you like Nickleback or Puddle of Mud I would buy this.

2 out of 5 stars wheres the lawsuit?   November 2, 2008
I'm gonna have that "bad girlfriend" song stuck in my head for weeks....

In case your not sure which song it was, it's the 8th one that goes "fire woman... you're to blame....yeah fire.... smoke on the horizon..."

seriously! when i heard it on the radio i thought it was a cover of "Fire Woman" by "the Cult" then the guy started to sing... then I really got angry at Nickleback

It actually took me about a week to realise it wasnt the new Nickleback song... all the while I was badmouthing Nickleback for ripping off the Cult... but i dont feel bad about it because nickleback has been gradually progressing into a country music band and hasnt put anything out worth hearing since the first album where they still had some energy and passion for music, and not this "sensitive moan and groan so i can get groupies" crap that staind started (another band that rocked out loud till the second album came out... Aaron Lewis if you're reading this... think "Mudshovel" and start writing better music)

In my opinion "bad girlfriend" is the result of theory of a deadman hanging out backstage while listening to Fire Woman..when all of a sudden Chad Kroeger... oops!...i mean Tyler Connolly... jumped up all excited with a 12 watt lightbulb over his head and said "I have a great idea for a song!"

3 out of 5 stars Good Attempt   November 1, 2008
Theory Of A Dead Man are a good rocking band. Their hits are catchy, but grow old fast. Too much airplay has killed my views on the singles, but overall not a bad album. People compare them to Nickelback, regardless it's a fun easy going rock album. Not a band that will change rock musical as a whole, but shows promise. I say if you like Seether or any post-grunge rock then you'll enjoy this. Good enough to pull a few listens all the way through.
