A Haunting Voice From A Foreign Land November 3, 2008

I always enjoy listening to music from faraway exotic places of origin. It really doesn't matter if I know the language in which the song is being sung because ultimately it's not the words, but the quality of the voice and the emotional investment of the singer that will make its impact on the listener. Such is the power of the talented and beloved Lebanese diva Fairuz.
'The Very Best of Fairuz' is the only CD of hers I've listened to thus far so I have no basis of comparison with any of her other releases. I will say that this CD was everything I hoped it would be; rich arabic rhythms accompanied by a beautiful, sultry feminine voice laddened with melancholy and deeply felt longing. I definitely what to become more acquainted with this mesmerizing haunting voice.

I cannot but say that Fairuz is the best arabic singing artist in the whole world. Her songs are not only related to her home country (Lebanon) but rather address a much wider spectrum of people. Her songs are sentimental and touch the heart in the most dearest way possible. Each and every time I listen to her my eyes become filled with tears. The most beloved Fairuz song to my heart is Bhibbak Ya Libnan. After all I am Lebanese and this basically says it all. Thank you Fairuz and GOD bless you.
