Album Description
The Sound album released in 2008 shows Mary Mary are not ones to shy away from in-your-face declarations of faith, the girls are now more intentional than ever about whom they adore, without for a moment compromising their call to innovation and growth. The introspective 'Seattle' is a prime example, a pensive prayer that asks the Lord to descend upon the soul the same way rain falls on the Emerald City. In the vein of Mary Mary standards 'Can't Give Up Now' and 'Yesterday,' a couple of ballads on The Sound stand out for their passionate delivery: 'I Trust You' (feat. Marvin Winans) and 'I Worship You' are easily the sonic and spiritual plateaus of the album.

My wife loved this CD (it was a birthday gift)! I loved the way they combined that old R&B sound from the 1950's and 60's with the more modern sounding songs. Great buy!
Love "The Sound" December 1, 2008
This is what I listen to every morning on my commute to work. I have been a Mary Mary fan since their first album and this album didn't disappoint. This album is great from the first track to the last. If you like Mary Mary, you will enjoy this CD. This is one of those CD's that can reach those who may not be into traditional Gospel who need to be reached, though there are a few traditional cuts.
A few standouts for me are:
Dirt
Seattle
I'm Running
Forgiven Me
One last thing....GO GET THIS CD and listen for yourself!!! Not everyone is going to like it but in that same breath...because it didn't speak directly to them, doesn't mean that it won't speak to you. Get the CD for yourself and give the CD as a gift and for those of you who didn't care for it...pass it on, someone else may need to hear the message in "The Sound."

I love Mary Mary. They are just a few of the groups of people who's cds I buy and listen to the whole thing and like all the songs.

Ok when i first bought this album i was expecting a couple good songs-I WAS WRONG! I've been listening to this CD NONSTOP! It has ministered to my soul & has also pumped me up!
"Seattle"-***** stars- I really didn't like it when i first listened to it but the lyrics are so creative & straight from the heart-like a prayer! "Holy Spirit, rain like Seattle, overtake my life like a flood. Like California, shake everything that's not like you." GREAT comparisons for today! Sometimes simple is best!
"I Worship You"-***** stars- is a prayer of thankfulness & gratitude for what God has done & who He has been. It's beautiful! I find myself singing it when i pray because it says what i want to tell him!
"Forgiven me"-**** stars- really helped me...the harmonies are incredible!They could have added something about CHRIST's forgiveness but i get where they're coming from. Sometimes we can't forgive ourselves even after we've repented & God's forgiven us.
"I'm Runnin"-*****stars- WOW! This song speaks volumes to me! "Lord, I'm runnin, if i can't walk then i'll crawl...& i'll get up when i fall. Gotta get to where you are...cuz it's you Lord that i want." This really is a prayer! They're saying i HAVE to get closer to him.
"Dirt"-**** stars- very creative song letting us know that the "dirt" or bad things in our life have a purpose. God's molding us through our trials.
"It Will All Be Worth It"-***** stars- inspirational song. Yes it will be worth it just to see our savior's face!
"The Sound"-**** stars- Upbeat, fun song...typical Mary Mary sound! I like how they took it more Gospel-y towards the end!
"Get Up"-*** stars- Good lyrics...just not my favorite
"Superfriend"-**** stars- ONE OF MY FAVS! I like how they put God relevant to today's youth. HE IS THE BEST KIND OF FRIEND- A SUPERFRIEND! I don't like D Banner on the track...they could have gotten Canton Jones. BUT the song has a great message! "My superfriend holds me at night..." I like the end where they say "Can't nobody do me like my superfriend." They're takin it back to "Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus."
"God In Me"- **** stars- A cool song. Yes, they're talking about materialistic things but they also talk about the attitude too. "She goes home & her knees hit the floor..." They say that when people ask about her stuff like her car, she tells them that "Its the God in me..." I like the song...nice lyrics & awesome beat!
"Boom"-**** stars- SKATIN PARTY!!!
Ovarall-THIS CD IS BOMB! It's a great cd for those who have just gotten in church or have been in for years! They mention JESUS & do it in a creative way! I like this CD ALOT better than their last one.
