| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description "Nine Heavens" features nine intricately carved original arrangements and compositions of traditional folk songs and mystical Sufi poems from Iran, the Indian sub-continent and Turkey. With a strong emphasis on composition, Niyaz centers on the deep interconnectedness between the music of Iran, India and Turkey, and delves further into the traditional melodies of these regions with outstanding performances by its core members as well as guest musicians of the highest caliber from these three traditions. Nine Heavens has been released as a double disc set. One cd embodies the original concept of the band which is to bridge the gap between the traditional and modern by creating a finely-tuned balance of acoustic and electronic music. The second will be a solely acoustic version of the album, which will feature a more organic approach with a stronger emphasis on traditional acoustic instrumentation with added percussion.
Album Description Two CD set of two versions of the album in the same package. One is an electronic/acoustic version of Nine Heavens embodying the original philosophy of the band's desire to bring together the ancient and the modern, and the second version is the solely acoustic recordings of these songs. The acoustic recordings are so rich, Niyaz is confident fans of both genres will enjoy it.

musical hypnotism August 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hypnotic. Mesmerizing. Sensual. The list of superlatives goes on. I bought this cd based on a single listen of "Beni Beni" on a local radio station and did I ever get my moneys worth. For those of you who found Stings song "Desert Rose" captivating welcome to a hidden mine.
So worth it! August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I came across their name by happy accident. I viewed some of their music on Youtube and decided to get their latest release. I sat and listened to both cds. I was unhappy that it seemed over so soon. I say ditto to all 14 previous reviews. Niyaz, you have a new fan.

Dreamy, haunting, truly magical music...Azam Ali's voice is otherwordly. This compilation touches the soul. Can't get enough of it.
Wonderful CD August 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Thank you NIYAZ for this haunting and beautiful CD. If you've never listened to anything but Western style music then challenge yourself and buy this CD. You will be rewarded by entering into a world of mystic poetry from Turkey and Iran that's accompanied by a blend of traditional instruments and artfully applied electronics (Synths and tastefully applied digital reverb on the vocals). The percussion (darbuka and other instruments)exhibition on this CD is quite masterful. Azam Ali has a fluid and ethereal sound voice that has to be heard to be appreciated. I highly recommend this work of art.

Thank you for this! August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. You will need more than thirty-second samples to appreciate the true beauty of Azam Ali's voice. Her music (at least to my ears) has improved greatly since her early days with Vas (see, for example, "Feast of Silence"). The fist disc of this set contains lightly remixed versions of the songs, while the second disc is acoustic and sounds more like traditional Persian music. See also this group's first release, "Niyaz."
If you prefer remixes, two releases on Six Degrees by Azam Ali are worth hearing, but are available only as downloads. They are remixes of music from "Elysium for the Brave": "Elysium Remixes, EPs 1 & 2.
